"Corrupted Hands"
Farsi w/English subtitles 2001. Directed by Cyrus Alvand. This is a critically acclaimed comedy from Iran. Marriage is supposed to make people happy, but for two men it's both profitable and criminal. Nader and Siamal are a pair of longtime friends who run a business in which they help arrange weddings, they are wedding planners. Siamak's significant other Diba knows the ins and outs of the traditional Iranian wedding feast and Nader's wife to be Roya helps Diba setup. Nader and Siamak have a lucrative sideline, their wedding service is a front for a robbery ring, in which they carefully and efficiently rob their clients blind. Siamak finds himself wrestling with his conscience when he falls in love with Nasrin, Diba as you would expect is not happy. Siamak proposes to Nasrin, only to get the third degree from her father. Siamak tries to hide his real business, but her father hires a detective to spy on the potential groom, as he tries to figure out a way to rob his own wedding.
